Year 2021 in Review: A whole Herd of Birthdays!
This past year New Jersey Virtual Herd had the time to create a stronger presence online and social media. The Herd now has Instagram and Facebook pages, a TikTok account and an increasing of videos that have been posted on the NJVH Youtube and Rumble channels! We have been somewhat limited in the video production end, mainly editing expertise (however a strong learning curve in technology for capture has been at times comical!). In many cases raw content was sitting there waiting for narratives or the unexpected challenges in getting footage ready for viewing, therefore several dated projects were quite late in being posted - mainly the birthdays. The past year did not have much structure on the video front, it had promise with some successful virtual appointments, and a handful of videos that were well received. It also revealed our novice and “fish out of water syndrome” stumbles and fumbles - which can lead to confusion, frustration, doubt, etc. There are no mistakes if something is learned, right? Well, good then. 48 videos were posted in 2021. Below is the compilation of the Herd’s birthdays. Presented in celebratory date order (not published date order) are each of our main Herd-members birthday videos, (except Redcat, because his gotchadate was Easter 2017 and need to figure out that date and, oh well, we will have to catcha Red, on time in 2022!). In each birthday video there is a lot of eating! Do not fear, these animals do not eat like this everyday. One thing we aimed to do with them was to share one aspect about that animal, maybe it is the gotchadate story, or if known - something about their past, something unique that they do or have an opinion about, etc. Anyway in the gallery below are all of the Herd birthday videos from 2021 in order of occurrence. 2022 has us a bit excited because we have learned some things, and also have found a video editor to help us move along more smoothly! There are plans to create vlog lists for content and a strategy for capturing the needed content around what the Herd does naturally to tell “their stories”. Here and there, where appropriate we may be able to share stories of how these majestic animals help people in their real work, there may even be a former client or two who might share what the Herd’s guidance has created in their lives. Mainly though the goal is to produce one weekly episode sharing a story of, about, from, within the Herd. The circumstances that actually occur in their lives and how they navigate them, their relationships, their routines, and surprises! As in the arena with clients, it is best to trust the horses to show up with what they have to share and just let them be. Each of them are different in personality and each are equally expressive. So 2021 will most likely be it for the birthday videos, except maybe Redcat, not that they wont be celebrated just not on video, only so many times you can watch them eat treats and find that entertaining. Really wish we could just have the cameras on all the time!
